Restoration

Final Concept Drawings for Tall Hisban entry. Prepared by Rebecca Fuller (Andrews University), Gala Ualita (Andrews University), and Ahmed al-Daffar (Hashemite University)

Restoration efforts for Tell Hesban began in the 1970s and continue to the present. Our approach is one of community archaeology, involving the residents of Hisban in planning for and implementing a sustainable future for the site. In addition to protecting the site from looters and making it a safe place to visit by building steps, walls, and sand bridges, the Hisban archaeological team and community have erected signage to guide visitors through the area. Plans are also in place for the building of a visitor center.
